“Many moons ago I stopped in the Big Wheel in B-town with a friend in the wee hours for a post-binge breakfast before going home for some sleep. The waitress was a beautiful blonde, slim, with loose curls and blue eyes. Being dehydrated from consuming mass quantities of beer, the first thing I asked for was ice water.

“She said, ‘You don’t really want to drink water, do you? Fish f—— in it.’

“Her name was Collette.”
